Virtual Assistance: What You Need to Know

Kim Harris Virtual Assistant

Spending money in your business is something we all don’t like the sound of. Personally, I only spend money on absolute crucials in my own business, which makes sense. As a business owner we constantly need to reign in the expenses, whilst making as much money as possible … Trust me I get it! But, can I let you in on a secret? There is one expense that guarantees your return on investment time and time again. Want to know what that is? Read on to find out.

A Virtual Assistant, a Luxury or a Necessity?

There are many misconceptions out there surrounding Virtual Assistant’s and of course you may have come across many online. Perhaps you have been unfortunate to have encountered your own personal bad experience with hiring a Virtual Assistant that you had to micro-manage and hand-hold to the point that it no longer seemed viable to even keep her. In these kinds of negative situations, it is completely understandable to have a bad view about Virtual Assistance. But let me tell you my side, many of my views are taken from my own experience of working with my own international clients, as a high-level Virtual Assistant.

Consider this, imagine thinking about all the tasks that you need to action in your business on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Now imagine all the tasks that you don’t get to and absolutely avoid doing entirely (think arranging meetings, sending out calendar invites, typing and formatting of documents, creating invoices and keeping all your business income and expenses tracked, proofreading your own documents, searching and booking your own flights, I could literally list a million things that you are probably nodding your head to right now).

These are tasks that you can literally hand right over to your Virtual Assistant and never need to deal with again. Sigh of relief? I think so. Now think about how much time you would actually save if you never had to touch any of these tasks again? I would calculate that to amount to hours in your day and week that you could possibly save, and valuable time that could be spent brainstorming a new business product or service, building relationships with clients, securing more business and income into your bank account and strategizing for the future. This is where your business expertise comes in and also, how hiring a Virtual Assistant for your business WILL ensure the growth of it.

A Client-Virtual Assistant Relationship

There is one catch to this really good scenario I have painted above … and that is, you need to ensure that you are hiring the right Virtual Assistant “partner” in your business. Hiring a cheap, relatively experienced Virtual Assistant to take care of menial tasks in your business and not much more, will not produce the results as aforementioned. You need to look at hiring an experienced Virtual Assistant that is looking to join you on your business walk and someone who will become a long-term asset to your success. The old adage will always apply: “quality over quantity” every single time.

When you build a relationship with a high-level Virtual Assistant, trust me, the extra time that she will provide you to focus on your business development will pay for her services over and over again.

Sound good?
